Fredrik Tumegård appointed CEO of Stim

The Board of Directors of Stim has appointed Fredrik Tumegård as CEO of the organisation. Since November 2025, he has led the organisation as interim CEO and now has the Board's continued confidence to lead Stim into the next phase of development.

Stim strengthens music creators' freedom of choice and control in AI – introduces a new rights category

AI is rapidly changing how music is created, used and generates value. At the same time, a new international market is emerging in which AI companies want to license music on legal terms. To ensure that Swedish music creators have freedom of choice, control and the opportunity for compensation in the AI market going forward, Stim's members decided to introduce a special rights category for AI.

Stim passes the billion mark in Sweden

During 2025, Stim reached a historic milestone when license revenues from the Swedish market exceeded SEK 1 billion for the first time. At the same time, Stim's total rights revenues amounted to SEK 3.1 billion. Despite increased international competition, Swedish music remains strong.

These are Sweden’s fastest-growing songwriters of 2026

STIM is now presenting this year’s list of Sweden’s fastest-growing songwriters, based on unique data from STIM. The songwriters are all in a strong growth phase in their careers and have increased their STIM payouts by at least 100 percent over the past year. In recognition of this achievement, they receive the +100! award, which is now being presented for the fifth consecutive year.

Casper Bjørner to leave position as CEO of STIM

Over the past year, Casper Bjørner has been absent from STIM's operations due to medical reasons. During this period, Casper and the Board have engaged in dialogue regarding the future. Given the continued uncertainty concerning his health, and considering STIM’s need for long-term, fully operational leadership in a period of significant transformation in the music industry, it has been mutually agreed that this is the appropriate course of action.

OpenAI was found liable on November 11 in a court in Munich. "Congratulations to our colleagues at GEMA for a historic ruling that puts its foot down: copyright also applies in the AI era," says Lina Heyman, Chief Legal Counsel at STIM.

Fredrik has extensive experience as a CEO and transformation leader, with a strong technical and commercial background. He has held senior roles in listed companies, international groups and growth companies within technology, media, life sciences and industry – always with a focus on driving strategic development, delivering results and building sustainable organizations.

STIM Launches the World’s First AI License for Music

STIM is taking a groundbreaking step in the digital evolution of the music industry by introducing the world’s first collective AI license for music. The license covers a selection of works by creators who have explicitly given their consent and ensure fair compensation when their music is used in AI contexts.
