Yung Lean receives the Platinum Guitar

When the lo-fi-scented "Ginseng Strip 2002" was released just over ten years ago, Jonatan Leandoer, under his stage name Yung Lean, took the first steps toward becoming Sweden's biggest hip-hop star. But the domestic successes would soon prove to be merely a springboard to the international firmament.
The jury's motivation
"Despite not yet having passed 30, Jonatan Leandoer has, through heavy beats, a restless soundscape and lyrics that hit like a bowling ball to the stomach, already become a polished veteran in the hip-hop world with major artist collaborations such as Frank Ocean, Travis Scott, Charli XCX, Robyn, Skrillex, Bladee, Ant Wan and Ecco2K behind him. On his musical journey around the world he has not only conquered every continent but also managed to go viral for a second time with the same song, when "Ginseng Strip" became one of the most played songs on TikTok in 2022. An achievement few are afforded. Jonatan impresses by constantly building a deeper relationship with his listeners and he has shown he can master the near-impossible feat of balancing breadth with great musical integrity. Ever curious about new impressions and collaborations while "Sad Boys" runs like a red thread through his entire artistry. He is not only the creator of an entirely new sound, but also represents a broader art form where the boundary between the human and the music has been blurred. Despite significant successes, it feels like he still has much to explore on his winding musical voyage of discovery. For this artist, songwriter, performer and phenomenon the future looks brilliantly bright. Big congratulations on Stim's Platinum Guitar 2024!"
The jury for the 2024 Platinum Guitar consists of Marit Woody-Lambin (Musikförläggarna), Martin Jonsson Tibblin (The Association of Swedish Composers), Anders Wollbeck (SKAP) as well as Julia Bertling Szytek and Patrik Sventelius (Stim).
