"SOS" by Avicii is the most played song of 2019
Every year Stim presents the most played song in Sweden, based on the number of streams and radio plays. The song that was heard the most through speakers, headphones and radios during 2019 was "SOS" by Avicii. "SOS" was written by Tim Bergling, Kristoffer Fogelmark, Albin Nedler, Kevin Briggs, Kandi Burruss and Tameka Cottle. The song was started by Tim Bergling and was later completed as a tribute to him.
The award ceremony for the most played song of the year took place at the Stim Music Room in Stockholm, where the songwriters were represented by Kristoffer Fogelmark and Albin Nedler. For the past two years the prize has been presented at the Musikförläggarnas pris gala, where the winners have also received their tributes.
"We had all of Tim's mixtapes and MIDI files to work with, so we could really complete Tim's vision. That was the most important thing when we finished the record: to preserve all the elements that were Tim," say Kristoffer Fogelmark and Albin Nedler in an interview with Stim.
"That "SOS" became the most played song of 2019 and reached so many people both in Sweden and internationally shows Tim Bergling's incredible talent to move people with music. We are proud to honor Tim Bergling and the other songwriters with this award," says Karsten Dyhrberg Nielsen, CEO of Stim.
The list of the most played songs is compiled from a number of different sources, such as Spotify, YouTube Music, Apple Music and radio. This is the second year in a row that Avicii tops the most played song list. The most played song in 2018 was "Without You".
