The Covid-19 crisis has heavily impacted the Swedish cultural sector. STIM now opens up the possibility for songwriters, composers and music publishers to receive payment in advance. SEK 50 million has been set aside for these advance payments.

– It's a difficult time for music creators and we at STIM are doing everything in our power to support our members throughout the crisis. Now, for a limited time, we are introducing an offer of advance payments, says Karsten Dyhrberg Nielsen, CEO at STIM.

In brief, the initiative means that rights holders who received at least SEK 10,000 from STIM during 2019 can apply for an advance payment. The size of the advance is based on the size of the earnings received from STIM during 2018 and 2019, and also on the total amount of all advance payments granted to STIM members. The advance can amount to a maximum of SEK 200,000 per applicant.

– We do not rule out that further initiatives may become relevant in the future, but this is an important measure that we can take right now to lessen the burdens of our members when concerts are cancelled and businesses that are playing music are shut down. This is the most extensive offer of advance payment in STIM's almost 100-year history and we are proud to be able to make it happen, says Karsten Dyhrberg Nielsen.
