In 2013 Export Music Sweden (founded by STIM, SAMI and IFPI/SOM) and Musiksverige issued a questionnaire to organizations in the Swedish music industry to explore their views on target markets for export. In 2015 a follow-up survey was conducted.

The results and analysis of both this study and other relevant sources are the basis for a common strategy in order to help strengthen the Swedish music export, hopefully with the involvement of the Swedish government.

The report concludes that Sweden (and Iceland) has the least music export support in comparison with the other Nordic countries. Meanwhile, Sweden has a maximum export share. It also states that the goal of Musiksverige and Export Music Sweden is that the Swedish music industry's exports will reach a total of 2 billion SEK by 2020.
