What is NCB, the Nordic Copyright Bureau?

The Nordic Copyright Bureau (NCB) is a music-rights organisation headquartered in Copenhagen and jointly owned by Stim and our counterpart societies in the other Nordic countries. NCB handles the licensing of music for film, TV, record releases, music downloads, and similar uses. These are known as mechanical licences, which are different from the public-performance licences that Stim manages.

NCB administers mechanical licences and collects the fees from music users; the royalties are then paid out to the songwriters and music publishers via Stim. On your Stim statement, this income appears under “mechanical rights.”

If you’re a songwriter or a music publisher, you can log in to My Pages to view your payment statement from Stim, or check our payout calendar to see the date of the next NCB royalty payment.
