National organizations
Sweden's association life, its so-called "föreningsliv", is strong and music is one of the cornerstones for many associations, guilds and societies. Stim has agreements with all study associations in Sweden and with many national organizations.
Below you will find more information about the various agreements with the national organizations.
Agreements with national organizations
ATR's agreement with Stim gives all its member associations permission to use music at their events
What does the agreement mean?
The agreement means that the association does not need to obtain its own music license from Stim, but must report performances that include musical elements.
The member association must also report which repertoire was performed for the theatre productions it has produced itself.
Music-dramatic works
The rights to music-dramatic original works such as opera, musical or standalone ballet are not included in Stim's repertoire and are therefore not covered by the parties' agreement. Nor are stage performances in which pre-existing musical works have been combined into a dramatized whole framed by set design and lighting. Likewise, by tradition, music written specifically for a particular play is not covered by the agreement when that play is performed. If the music rights in these cases are not regulated in the agreement with the theatrical publisher, the theatre can contact Stim for help with licensing.
Payment
When we have received the report we send an invoice to the organizing association.
What is not included in the agreement?
A separate permission is required for the following uses of music.
- Own radio an TV broadcasts.
- Music on the internet.
- Audio or visual productions (for example CD or DVD production).
