Member with voting rights – a way to influence Stim

Creators and music publishers affiliated with Stim can become members of Stim. As a member you have the right to participate in and vote at Stim’s general meetings. This way you can actively take part in decisions about Stim’s activities that affect you as a music creator or music publisher.
After you have been a member of Stim for a while you may also have the right to influence our activities by being able to vote at Stim’s annual general meeting. If you meet the criteria to become a member with voting rights you can apply for membership via My pages.
It costs nothing to be a member with voting rights, except for a small membership fee of SEK 10 (to cover administrative costs) which is deducted from your next settlement.
Influence who governs Stim – nominate to elected bodies
Stim has a nominating committee that before each annual general meeting proposes members to Stim’s board, Stim’s committee for the promotion of musical diversity and copyright (NäMMU), Stim’s remuneration committee – and to the nominating committee itself. As a member you can nominate candidates via a special form that is emailed to the nominating committee no later than before the next ordinary general meeting.
Make an impact with your ideas – submit a motion
Do you have an idea about something you think Stim should work on more or in a different way? Then you can submit a proposal – a so‑called motion – ahead of the annual general meeting. At the meeting, members then vote on which motions should be implemented. It may sound difficult to write a motion, but it isn't and we are happy to help you. Your ideas and thoughts are central for Stim to continue to develop and to be the best organisation we can be for all our affiliated creators.
Criteria for becoming a member with voting rights
- For Stim-affiliated music creators:
- To become a member as a music creator you must, for at least three consecutive years prior to your application, have received annual settlements from Stim of at least SEK 200.
- For Stim-affiliated music publishers:
- For music publishers the requirement is that the publisher, for at least three consecutive years prior to the application, has annually received payments from Stim of at least the amount corresponding to the Swedish Tax Agency's current turnover threshold for VAT registration.
Note that all applications are assessed individually. Special circumstances may mean that an application is rejected.
