FAQ

What does a music publisher do?

A music publisher works with songs/works and with the people who wrote the music and lyrics—the creators. The publisher’s aim is to increase its creators’ income, protect their rights, and support them in the creative process.

For a songwriter, a music publisher can offer a network of record labels, film companies, video-production houses, advertising agencies, and more. That network can extend into other countries where you want to spread your music. Publishers can also prepare engraving originals of sheet music, negotiate with printers, proofread, and so on. If a publisher represents a songwriter, it is the publisher who registers the songs with Stim and checks the statements and payments.
