License fee for a smaller proportion of copyright-protected music
For certain types of events, special licensing terms may apply when only a small proportion of the performed music is covered by copyright. In such cases a reduced license fee may apply.
If an event mainly consists of music that is not copyright-protected, for example older musical works where the protection period has expired, the license fee may be lower.
Example: A traditional Walpurgis Night celebration where some of the music is so old that it is no longer covered by copyright.
The discount is based on the total amount of music performed, and the ratio between copyright-protected and unprotected music.
