Radiowave / Radiovågen

The Radio Wave's purpose is to support music that enriches Sweden's music scene across the country. This is done by awarding grants to works of music that have been performed on selected parts of Sveriges Radio but have not yet generated significant income or had many performances.

The selection eligible for The Radio Wave comes from Sveriges Radio's channels and programs, with a focus on market-disadvantaged music. It is intended to reflect a repertoire that represents musical diversity and has not yet achieved commercial success.

How it works

  • The Radio Wave is awarded to musical works performed on selected parts of Sveriges Radio's programming.
  • The selection of channels and programs is made annually by an expert group appointed by Stim.
  • Based on the expert group's proposals, a selection of approximately 400–500 musical works is compiled according to a set of criteria.
  • Stim then assesses the available pool for distribution and involves the expert group if needed.
  • Rightsholders of the repertoire that match the selection criteria and that were accounted for in the previous year on the selected channels and/or programs are awarded an amount between 3,000 SEK and 50,000 SEK.
  • Award decisions are communicated to the recipient via the email address registered on My pages. Information about how many receive grants and how much money is distributed annually is published on stim.se. Stim does not publish information about who has received support from The Radio Wave.
  • The Radio Wave is distributed at the same time as the complementary initiative The Live Music Lift / Livemusiklyftet.
  • Ensure that your personal account details are correc on My Pages to guarantee a smooth payment if you are awarded The Radio Wave.
