Prices and special terms for music at hotels

License for music at hotels, cottages and campsites

2026

For public performance of Music in hotel and cottage rental operations and at campsites or similar, the Licensee pays 1.81 kronor per night per room that has had occupancy ("occupancy night").

The minimum fee is 962 kronor per year and operation. By operation is meant, for example, a single hotel or a cottage village.

The fee includes public performance of Music/TV in the rooms/in the cottages as well as music in the foyer, lobby, elevators, conference rooms, common rooms and other similar areas to which guests have access.

Licensees who perform Music exclusively in common areas such as foyer/lobby, elevator, conference room, common room or similar, pay 930 kronor per such space per year.

The Licensee shall pay the fee according to the interval stated in the License Confirmation or Special Agreement. The License Confirmation or Special Agreement also states whether the Licensee shall pay in advance or in arrears. If the Licensee is to pay in arrears there are special rules on Reporting in the General Terms. In case of missing Reporting, STIM has the right to invoice an estimated amount based on Statistics Sweden's data on capacity utilization for hotel rooms in Greater Stockholm.

Note concerning the scope of the License

It is specifically noted that the License does not cover Live music or music in food and beverage service, discos and bar DJs, retail premises (e.g. shop), sports facilities (e.g. gym) or during exercise classes. For more information, seePrices and special terms for each area.
