License for music in ship cabins

For public performance of music in ship cabins the Licensee pays 1.81 kronor per day and per cabin that has been occupied.

Since ships can make several trips per day, and thus may have multiple occupancies of the same cabin during a day, the calculation formula below is used. The formula takes into account the ship's average occupancy during the period.

The formula for calculating the price for a ship is:

1.81 kr x number of cabins x average occupancy (number of rentals / number of possible rentals) x number of operational days

Where average occupancy is the average rental rate of cabins during the period in percent. Calculated as the total number of rentals divided by the number of possible rentals.

Calculation example

  • A ship has 50 cabins relevant to the license.
  • The ship has been in operation for 100 days during the period.
  • The ship has made 200 trips during the period.
  • The maximum possible number of rentals during the period thus becomes 50 (cabins) x 200 (number of trips) = 10,000
  • The ship had a total of 6,000 cabin rentals during the period.
  • The ship's average cabin occupancy was therefore 6,000 / 10,000 = 60%
  • The price for the period therefore becomes 1.81 kr (price) x 50 (number of cabins) x 100 (operational days) x 60% (average occupancy) = 5,430 kr.

The Licensee shall pay the fee according to the interval stated in the License Confirmation or Special Agreement. The License Confirmation or Special Agreement also states whether the Licensee shall pay in advance or in arrears. If the Licensee is to pay in arrears there are special rules on Reporting in the General Terms.
