Prices and special terms for music in revue and dance shows

On this page you will find STIM's prices and terms for using music in revue and dance shows.

For the meaning of words with initial capital letters see General Terms.

License for music in revue and dance shows

For public performance of Music for use in revue, dance show, cabaret, spex and magic shows, the Licensee pays a fee to STIM as follows:

The revue license covers independent musical and song numbers mixed with sketches and monologues, often without the performance having a clear plot. STIM's revue license can also be used for music in student spex and magic shows, etc.

It is important to pay attention to how the music is used because there is a limit to what STIM can license. If the music, for example, is a central element of the revue, one may sometimes need to seek a license directly from the rights holder (publisher and/or creators). Find out whether your revue is covered by a STIM license or if you need to seek permission directly from the rights holder (creator and/or publisher).

Special terms

Reporting of performed music

The Licensee shall submit music reports as stated in General Terms.

Note regarding the scope of the License

It is noted in particular that the License does not cover music for spoken plays or the right to perform unauthorized lyrics.

Miscellaneous

Advance notification

If STIM so requests, the Licensee is obliged to notify STIM of planned events in advance. The notification must be submitted at least seven calendar days before the planned event and must include information on the date, venue and location.

Visits

STIM has the right to attend events to verify that the Licensee submits accurate information regarding Reporting and music reporting. STIM shall notify visits in advance and the Licensee shall then provide two admission tickets free of charge.

Provision of venue and responsible organizer

If a Licensee grants the use of a venue to a third party (a so-called responsible organizer), the responsible organizer should normally obtain a license. The Licensee shall inform STIM that the responsible organizer has used the venue and state the dates of the hire. The Licensee shall also inform the responsible organizer that they may need to obtain a license from STIM. If the responsible organizer does not obtain a license when required, the Licensee may be considered responsible for the use of music.

By 'responsible organizer' is primarily meant the one who has a permit under the Public Order Act or a permit for the sale of food or alcohol on the premises. Secondly, it means the person in whose cash book ticket revenues are recorded. Independent ticket agents are not considered responsible organizers if the majority of the proceeds from ticket sales accrue to someone else. At events with free admission, the person who has economic accounting responsibility for the majority of the costs is considered the Responsible organizer.
