How is the cost calculated?
Example
The shipping company Östersjön operates a ferry that runs daily between Stockholm and Riga. Music is used in several different areas on board, which means Östersjön needs more than one licence.
- Cabins: a licence for TV and radio, priced based on the number of cabins and paid in advance.
- Restaurants: a licence for serving premises, priced based on floor area and the number of opening days.
- Shops, corridors, toilets and lifts: covered by a retail-premises licence, where the fee is based on floor area and opening hours.
- Nightclub and DJ performances: follow the same licensing model as restaurants.
- Piano bar: requires an advance licence for live music.
- Head office: uses a workplace licence, where the fee is based on the number of employees.
