Do I transfer any rights when I join STIM?
STIM's basic concept is to monitor when and where your music is playing to be able to pay you for it. In this way, you avoid having to monitor this yourself. This involves you consenting to STIM managing agreements, licenses, and payments for all your music.
A STIM license does not only apply to individual songs, but to all music, which makes it simple for those who use your music. The agreements thus apply “collectively” to all the millions of compositions that STIM represents. Making specific exceptions is unfortunately not feasible, as the additional administration costs that this would entail would eat into the money that we want to use to pay songwriters and music publishers who are members of STIM.
