Compensation for live performances abroad
When your music has been performed live abroad, Stim will in many cases receive information about it automatically. The waiting time is longer than for Swedish performances and it can take up to one and a half years to receive compensation, but you can make the process easier by helping Stim monitor your compensation.
Give the setlist to the local organizer
To speed up the process you can ask the organizer in the country where you are performing how things works there. In some countries there are forms at the venues that you can fill in and give to the organizer, who then forwards the setlist to their country's copyright organization.
Countries have different rules regarding compensation
We cannot guarantee that you will receive compensation for all live performances abroad, this completely depends on how the specific country's rules are set up. To help Stim monitor your compensation you can log in to "My Pages" and click "Claim" and then "Live performances abroad". There you can submit information about your performance via a form.
Below you can read specifically about what applies to live performances in the USA, UK and Germany.
Live performances in the USA
You report live performances in the USA on "My Pages" – Stim collaborates with the American society ASCAP. Larger concerts are reported by the local organizer and you do not need to handle them yourself. If you nonetheless are missing compensation for a larger concert in the USA, you can file a claim for it on "My Pages".
Note that ASCAP only handles music reports for classical and art music. Programs from the performance must be attached for the report to be approved.
Live performances in the UK
In the UK, only concerts at large venues that have agreed to report concerts to the British copyright society PRS For Music are normally accounted for. Live performances that took place at e.g. pubs or smaller clubs are not compensated for. If you have performed in the UK there is still a possibility to get paid for live performances in smaller venues. You can report your performances via "My Pages" up to one year after the performance took place.
The deadline for Stim to receive your report is eleven months after the performance. This requirement exists in order for us to have time to forward the report to PRS for processing.
Live performances in Germany
To increase the chances of compensation from live performances in Germany you need to report them to Stim as soon as possible after your performance. Remember to include both the organizer and the venue when you send your report.
Performances in Germany must be reported to Stim no later than the last day of February. This means that performances taking place this year must be reported no later than the last day of February the following year.
