Transparency Report – for a transparent organization

How does the flow of money actually work when music is used – from license to payment? Stim's transparency report gives you a comprehensive and transparent picture of how we manage rightsholders' payouts. The report also includes a special section on how we use deductions to finance a range of music-promotion initiatives.
What is a transparency report?
A transparency report is an annual account that all collective management organizations are legally required to produce. Our report shows how the organization manages the financial flows that arise when copyright-protected music is used.
The purpose is to create transparency – so that rightsholders and other stakeholders can follow how money is collected, managed and paid out.
What does the report cover?
In the transparency report you can, among other things, find:
- Where the revenue come from
How and from which types of music use compensation is generated.
- How the money is distributed
What deductions are made and how compensation is paid to rightsholders.
- Outstanding funds
Why some funds have not yet been paid and what the process looks like from collection to payout.
- Compensation and governance
Information about who is on the board and in the management team, and about their compensation and fees.
- Collaborations with other countries
How revenue is handled between Stim and corresponding organizations internationally.
- Music promotion activities (special report)
How some of the funds are used for scholarships, grants and initiatives that contribute to a vibrant and sustainable music scene.
Why is it important?
Stim is a non-profit membership organization with the mission to ensure that music creators and music publishers receive the correct compensation when their music is used.
The transparency report is an important tool for showing how we fulfill that responsibility — correctly, efficiently and transparently.
