ICE, a jointly developed back-office system

ICE was founded in 2007 together with STIM's English counterpart, PRS for Music. ICE is an independent, commercial company. It’s an independent, jointly owned company whose operations are based on a unique technology.

What does ICE do?

ICE's primary task involves administering the enormous volume of data that is required to pay financial remuneration to music creators and publishers when their works have been played, recorded, streamed or legally downloaded.

First step: the new documentation system

ICE’s first task involved developing a system for managing musical work documentation. Gradual implementation of the new work documentation system began on 11 January 2010, and so an international project that will span many years was launched. The work documentation system implementation will be followed by a system to manage music reports and the entire project will be concluded with a system for payments of royalties.
