Swedish composer Max Martin as big as The Beatles in US
2010-11-15
With four songs the same week on the Billboard Hot 100's ten top spots composer Max Martin equals The Beatles 46 year old record.
The last time this previously occurred was on 4 April 1964, when four songs by John Lennon and Paul McCartney ruled the US singles chart. It was The Beatles own recordings of Can't Buy Me Love, She Loves You, I Want to Hold Your Hand and Please, Please Me that made the achievement. When it comes to Max Martin, his US top ten songs are performed by Pink, Usher, Taio Cruz and Katy Perry.
Another Swedish composer, Johan "Shellback" Schuster, 25, has co-written two of the songs, Raise Your Glass and DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love.
– It’s hard to really understand how big this is. Max Martin’s songwriting has literally exploded in the US over the last couple of years. Going from having written two US number-one hits in 1999 and 2000, he has since July 2008 achived to reach the number one spot six times and held the position for a total of 19 weeks, says Susanne Bodin, Stim’s Head of PR & Communications.
