”Music Rights: A Global Perspective” was the title of this years California Copyright Conference (CCC). Tomas Ericsson attended a panel of international music executives giving their views regarding their terrritories and global musical rights in the digital age.

Tomas Ericsson described the situation after the DG Markt Recommendation on Cross Border Licensing leading to the majors withdrawing their rights and the licensing complications and higher administration costs that followed.

He also talked about the work trying to find solutions such as a Pan European Portal, licensing hubs or passport models. Tomas Ericsson also informed the panel about  the WOI-project initiated by STIM, a new model offering the independent US music publishers the opportunity handle their rights in the new and exciting situation emerging in the European licensing landscape.
