Programme notes:
“Fufluns” is the god Dionysus or Bacchus in Etruscan mythology. This work was written during the summer of 1996 as a “task” for my teacher, Miklós Maros in Stockholm, as an example of music written for an instrument (harpsichord) with a short sustained sound (another such instrument is the guitar). This means that one must use more as well as faster tones to create as much sound as for example a piano or harp. It also illustrates a way to use an instrument such as the harpsichord in modern music. The piece is in one movement: the introduction is fast and energetic, the middle part is calm and the end becomes successively more energetic and faster, with an increasing frequency of sixteenth notes up to the finish.
Tomas Winter (English translation: George Kentros)
